On Monday we're getting a trailer for Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters revival – and now, we officially have its title. The 2020 Ghostbusters film is Ghostbusters 2020 no more – here comes Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a sequel set in the same continuity as the original two movies. The news comes courtesy of a BBFC report revealing that the trailer has been rated, and corroborated by a report from Vanity Fair which also reveals plenty of new details.

According to the write-up, Afterlife will focus on a family consisting of Carrie Coon as mum Callie, Mckenna Grace as daughter Phoebe, and Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame as son Trevor. Together they move to Oklahoma, having inherited an old farmhouse from the absentee father Callie never knew. It seems there’s a strong possibility that he might be one of the original Ghostbusters – but that’s unconfirmed for now. “Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves,” Reitman teases to VF.

What we do know is that the inherited house is full of Ghostbusting gear – from Proton packs to the Ecto-1. As for Paul Rudd, he plays Mr. Grooberson – a summer school teacher who has fond childhood memories of the original Ghostbusters’ antics in the ‘80s, now referred to as “the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984”. Hopefully we’ll find out more when the trailer arrives next week. In the meantime, take a look at the new poster above.
