Dimension Films is throwing on its winter clothing to produce Shiver. It’s bought Mike Wigart’s spec script for Michael Cuesta to direct.
The plot is inspired by true events that saw a group of New Year’s Eve partygoers get stranded in a fierce Minnesota snow storm. When they stumble upon an isolated nearby home, they discover that the sole occupant is a widowed doctor with a – bet you saw this coming – penchant for using torture as scientific study.
"What I like about Shiver and the horror genre is that when it's done honestly, with serious intent, it can tap into the social fears and anxieties of our time," Cuesta told The Hollywood Reporter. Without of course adding, “You know all those horror films you’ve seen with this plot? This… is another.”
