Tinto Brass, the man who made, and then loathed, 1979's Caligula (the hardcore sex scenes were edited in against his will), is planning what he's describing as the world's first-ever 3D pornographic production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter{
And his idea? "To revisit an abandoned project about a Roman emperor that was ruined by Americans, and go from there." Looks like he wants to create a more definitive Caligula, and this time we'll all experience it in our laps.
He's kicking off work on the script right now with the aim to shoot in May or June.
And in related news,Hollywood Wiretap relates that boundary-pushing maverick director Gaspar Noe may also be plotting to shoot his next film - talked up at Cannes as "a joyful movie with explicit sex" - in 3D. That one, however, is more of a rumour for now.
Dear Italy: welcome to the cinematic technological revolution, but did the leading light really have to be Tinto Brass?
