David Fincher knows a thing or seven about bringing serial killers to the screen, so the deliberately-capitalised MINDHUNTER, on which he's lead director and executive producer, definitely feels like something in his dark, brooding wheelhouse. The new trailer for the Netflix series can be watched below.

Adapted by Joe Penhall from John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, the series follows an FBI team tracking some of world's most notorious serial killers and rapists. And this one will have the scary ring of truth to it, as it's all based on Douglas' very real career with the bureau.

Jonathan Groff plays Holden Ford, a man working in the Bureau at a time when serial killers were still just starting to be studied and tracked. Along with his partner Bill Tench (Holt McCallany){href='(http://www.empireonline.com/people/holt-mccallany/)' }), they teach cops how to hunt psychopaths and look for ways to understand and stop those whose brains are geared for brutality.

The likes of Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and Cotter Smith make up the cast for the show, which lands on Netflix on 13 October.
