What with not one but two leading men (Jake Gyllenhaal and Dominic Cooper) considering and then dropping Albert Hughes’ Motor City because of scheduling clashes, we were beginning to wonder whether anyone in Hollywood actually bothers to keep a diary to track these jobs they get. But it would appear that Gerard Butler might be better at keeping an eye on his date book, as he’s now in negotiations for the movie.
Assuming he does actually make a deal (which, given the history of this film so far, isn’t 100% certain), he’ll play a prisoner released from the slammer who decides to track down the men who framed him. He’ll be joining a cast that already includes Amber Heard and recent Jameson Empire Award Winner Gary Oldman.
There’s just one small wrinkle, which does slightly deflate our praise of Butler’s schedule-keeping skills: Hughes is set to start shooting **Motor City **in June, which is the same time that had been pencilled in for Lakeshore Entertainment’s diamond heist pic Brilliant, which Butler agreed to take on earlier this month. We just hope no one ends up shouting, "I'll get you Butler!" On The Buses-style. Also jostling for the actor's time, though further down the road in terms of being ready to film, is action thriller Olympus.Watch this space to see which way he jumps.
