It seems fitting as he delivered one of the best films of 2015, and saw Mad Max: Fury Road earn early praise at the festival itself: George Miller will be the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury this year.

It's Miller's first time as president, but he's served on the jury twice before. "What an unmitigated delight!" the 70-year-old director says. "To be there in the middle of this storied festival at the unveiling of cinematic treasures from all over the planet. To spend time in passionate discourse with fellow members of the jury. Such an honour. I'll be there with bells on!" We're now hoping that the jury's announcement will come packing a performance by the Doof warrior. The festival itself runs between May 11 and May 22 this year.

Fury Road has so far earned Miller numerous awards and 10 Oscar nominations including Best Director. He's currently planning to make something a little smaller and less hassle next, but has said he still wants to explore more of the Mad Max wasteland in future films.
