After becoming shabbily heroic for **Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy **(and scoring a well-deserved Oscar nod for his work), Gary Oldman is getting back into the villain business for thriller Motor City.
**Book Of Eli **co-director Albert Hughes is busy setting up the film, which will find The Devil’s Double’s Dominic Cooper as a small-time criminal who is framed and sent off to the slammer. Released years later, he swears revenge and also looks to get back the woman he loves (Amber Heard).
Unfortunately for him, he’s got to go up against a shady kingpin (Oldman) who has been manipulating events behind the scenes and has control over Heard. It’ll be something of a reunion for Hughes and the actor, as Oldman also won the bad guy gig in Eli.
If all goes well, Hughes will kick off directing, working from a script by Chad St John, in April. It’s being backed by Joel Silver’s Dark Castle, which brought the world last year's annual Liam Neeson punch-fest Unknown.
Oldman will feature this year in both John Hillcoat’s superbly cast Wettest County. He’ll also return as Commissioner Gordon for The Dark Knight Rises. If you're after even more Oldman than that, check out our recent webchat here.
