It’s been a while since the words ‘Directed by Gary Fleder’ appeared on the big screen – not since 2003’s Runaway Jury, in fact.

Well, that’s about to change – big-time. Fleder, who burst onto the scene with Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead and who then went on to direct a string of decent thrillers, including Don’t Say A Word and the aforementioned John Grisham flick, is currently in post on his latest movie, American football drama The Express.

But he’s already lined up his next film after that – and it’s a return to the thriller genre.

Fleder will produce and direct Darkling Cove, in which a woman moves to a small beach town – the Darkling Cove of the title, we’re guessing – and uncovers a crime. Of course, why she’d expect anything otherwise from a town named Darkling Cove is beyond us – with a name like that, the town’s just asking for trouble. It’s like moving to Murderers’ Falls or Throat Slit Avenue. It’s just not going to end well.

The script for Darkling Cove is by Caroline Case, who used to be Fleder’s assistant and once wrote a draft of Don’t Say A Word for him. Which is nice.

20th Century Fox will fund the film using their PayPal account. Probably.
