While one big, connected franchise dominated this weekend, another continues to chug away quite happily, putting out entry after entry. The ever-expanding Conjuring horror universe is birthing yet another film, with writer Gary Dauberman turning director for a new Annabelle movie.
The continuing story of the demonic doll first seen in The Conjuring has so far spawned 2014's Annabelle and last year's Annabelle: Creation, which tracked the origin story of the terrifying toy. This new film – which Dauberman will also write – has yet to announce what part of her "life" it'll cover, but is already on the schedule for New Line, which is expecting delivery ready for a 3 July, 2019 release date.
In addition to his Conjuring writing duties (he also penned The Nun, due on 7 September) and is one of the team working on It: Chapter 2, which is scheduled for September next year.
