Gareth Edwards' Monsters (2010)

Having helped to launch Gareth Edwards' cinematic career and spawned one sequel, sci-fi horror Monsters is taking the next step with its giant beasts: into the realm of television.

Vertigo Films (which released the original film in some countries) is working with Channel 4 on the series, which has yet to announce any plot details, but is likely to focus once more on humanity's dealings with alien creatures living in "infected zones" across the US and elsewhere.

Top Boy's Ronan Bennett has been hired to develop the series and run it should the channel decide to commission it, working alongside writers Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith. Edwards is also likely to be involved in some capacity, even if it's only offering guidance.

Given that he was able to pull off CG miracles on a thrifty budget for the original, you can see the potential for the show, which could also explore more on the movie's timely immigration themes.
