Gareth Edwards Finds A New Film

Oh, how we love it when directors and producers attach themselves to new projects, but neglect to offer up any real details and keep even the title under wraps. The latest talent to sneak around with his new film is Monsters** director Gareth Edwards, who is working on something fresh and sci-fi focused with producer Timur Bekmambetov.

So what do we know about this mysterious new idea? According to the director and his producer, it’s "an epic human story, set in a futuristic world without humanity." So, it’s a remake of** Wall-E**? Just kidding! We’re excited to see whatever Edwards does next.

Start your speculation now as to what that cryptic description means. Are we on a ruined future Earth? An alien planet? Who knows, but we bet Edwards will aim to bring it in on a budget, given that he shot Monsters for around two packets of crisps and some money he found down the back of the sofa.

The reason for all the secrecy is that they’re only just getting started on it. Edwards will write the script and then he and Bekmambetov will start shopping it around studios. Want to bet Universal gets an early look-see thanks to the studio’s deal with Bekmambetov, the man still busy competing with Guillermo del Toro to see who can get their name attached to more projects?

Monsters, meanwhile, is getting a big showing at Toronto, and the movie has been generating plenty of buzz. It’ll attack our cinemas on November 26.
