He's spent the last few years in a fantasy world with Game Of Thrones, but Peter Dinklage appears happy to stay in the genre. He's now attached to star in a Rumpelstiltskin movie for Sony.
Patrick Ness is writing the script for this one, but the studio has yet to announce anything about how the film will tackle the classic story. Rumpelstiltskin, in its basic Brothers Grimm fairy tale form, follows a miller who lies to the king, telling him that his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king calls for the girl, shuts her in a tower room filled with straw and a spinning wheel, and demands she spin the straw into gold by morning or he will cut off her head.
When she has given up all hope, an imp-like creature known as Rumpelstiltskin, appears in the room and spins the straw into gold in return for her necklace. It seems like a good deal, but these things always come with a price...
Sony doesn't have the same fairy tale film track record as, say Disney, so it'll likely be hoping for good things from this.
Dinklage has a few projects in the works, and will be seen in HBO's film My Dinner With Herve. He'll also be back for the final season of Game Of Thrones next year.
