Dig out those bleach blonde wigs – there could be more Targaryen-centred treats from the Game Of Thrones-iverse than just the second series of House Of The Dragon on the way. As reported by Variety, another prequel project is potentially in the works: this time, focused on the man who started it all, Aegon I Targaryen.
Aegon I was the founder and first king of the Targaryen dynasty, and this project would tell the story of how he conquered six of Westeros’ Seven Kingdoms (all except Dorne) alongside his sister-wives (more twisted familial relationships in store, then) Visenya and Rhaenys. Using his army and three dragons, Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes, Aegon I became the first ruler to sit on the Iron Throne, approximately three centuries before the events of the main Game Of Thrones series. Yep, if you thought keeping track of the names in House Of The Dragon was tricky, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be any easier with this.
The prequel is in the very early stages of development, with no writer or showrunner attached as of yet. Interestingly, HBO and Warner Bros. may be looking to produce a feature film based on Aegon I’s conquest, which would then lead into a TV series. Thrones-level dragon action on the big screen?
