The Game’s A Farce For The First Holmes And Watson Trailer

Holmes And Watson

With Sherlock unlikely to return soon to small screens and the third Sherlock Holmes outing for Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law only creeping towards a shoot, it's up to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly to carry the flame for cinematic portrayals of Sr Arthur Conan Doyle's famous crime-combating duo. Don't expect much sensible sleuthing, though, as the first trailer for Holmes & Watson reveals.

Look, given the presence of the Step Brothers and Talladega Nights duo, this was never going to be the most sensible adaptation of the Sherlock stories, and all the usual nonsense is on display here – pratfalls, confusion, unrequited love and SHOUTING.

The likes of Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall, Lauren Lapkus, Hugh Laurie, Steve Coogan and Kelly Macdonald are all along for the ride, and Etan Cohen (who made Get Hard, but we're trying not to let that put us off) wrote and directed here.

Holmes & Watson will bumble into UK cinemas on 26 December.
