Dwayne Johnson and director Rawson Marshall Thurber scored a hefty deal for their new planned collaboration, action-comedy Red Notice, earlier this year. They've locked in one main co-star for Johnson, as his former Fast & Furious franchise colleague Gal Gadot has landed a role.
Red Notice's plot is largely being kept under lock and key, but some basics slipped out when the movie was first announced: it's set in the world of Interpol crime fighters, with the title referring to the most serious of categories for villains that the agency is tracking down. Johnson would play an Interpol agent.
According to Deadline, Gadot is on to play a mysterious and brilliant figure in the art world. Thurber apparently jetted into London, where she's in the middle of working on Wonder Woman 2, for a whirlwind trip to pitch her on the idea. Now the search continues for one other lead actor to anchor the film.
Universal nabbed the rights to make the movie after a fierce bidding war and Thurber will have the cameras rolling next April for a scheduled June 2019 release. His and Johnson's latest effort, Skyscraper, is out on 12 July. And Wonder Woman 2 has a US date of 1 November next year.
