Even before the success of last year's new take on Murder On The Orient Express, the seeds were planted for a follow-up to Hercule Poirot's deductive adventures, with director/star Kenneth Branagh tipping a wink to Death On The Nile. As he moves ahead with the movie, he's scored Gal Gadot as a main star.

Agatha Christie's novel, published in 1937, sees Poirot investigating a murder during a luxurious cruise on the Nile River that he just happens to be on. But just as he identifies a motley collection of would-be killers, several of the suspects also meet their demise, which only deepens the mystery.

Gadot will be Linnet Ridgeway Doyle, a rich heiress who marries a man who had previously been engaged to her best friend. Which, as you might predict, leads to trouble...

With Michael Green once again on script duty, Branagh will no doubt continue building another starry cast he can start murdering in Christie-approved fashion. And while he hasn't been officially announced to return as Poirot, you've got to figure on him plastering the 'tache back on for the film, currently due to arrive 20 December next year in the US and 3 January 2020 over here.
