She's currently busy once again playing Diana Prince for Wonder Woman 1984, but back before she broke into movies, Gal Gadot acted on various Israeli series. She's now looking to television for a future role, aiming to play Hedy Lamarr in a new miniseries for US cable channel Showtime.

While the series is still making its way through the development phase, the presence of Gadot – who will also be an executive producer – should help move it along. Sarah Treem, who created and runs The Affair for the channel, is behind this one, and will have the time to work on the planned limited series since The Affair is wrapping up its run.

Lamarr, born in Austria, went on to become one of the most famous stars of the Hollywood firmament, known for movies such as Samson And Delilah, Come Live With Me, Boom Town and The Ziegfeld Girl. The miniseries will also likely dig into her work as an inventor, credited with a frequency-hopping signal during World War II, which though it was initially rejected by US military, went on to become part of the technology behind Wifi.

You can learn more about her life in the excellent documentary Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set for release on 15 November next year, and Gadot has also signed on to movies such as Red Notice and Deeper.
