It's almost reflexive for movie news writers to follow the words "Kate Hudson" with "romantic comedy", but it sounds like her latest film is only a romance and may be somewhat light on the comedy. And now Gael Garcia Bernal is set to join her in Earthbound.
The story has Hudson playing a terminally-ill woman who falls in love with her doctor, who we're guessing is played by Bernal. Now if this were a normal Hudson movie, we'd be waiting for the miracle cure and happy ending, but given that it's directed by The Woodsman's Nicole Kassell, you'll have to forgive us if we're a little pessimistic about the couple's chances. Still, that is making us more optimistic that the film won't just be another Hudson rom-com.
It's all based on a script by former actress Gren Wells, and is set to start shooting in January. In the meantime you'll get to see the Oscar-nominated Hudson gyrating about with the rest of the Oscar-nominated cast of the sure-to-be-Oscar-nominated **Nine, due out this Oscar season.
