We learned in February that Jamie Foxx had taken the lead role in a new thriller called Sleepless Night. Gabrielle Union has now joined him in the film{ =nofollow}.

Swiss director Baran bo Odar is aboard to make the movie, with Andrea Berloff adapting the 2011 French thriller Nuit Blanche for American audiences. Foxx is set to play a cop with connections to the criminal underworld that finds his family – specifically his son – in danger when he double-crosses some very bad people. The title refers to him scouring a nightclub and, presumably some of a city, to find his kidnapped child. Union is set as his ex-wife, who will have to help him if they’re to save the boy from the gangsters’ clutches.

It’s not her only film scheduled for this year: the actress has also landed a main role in Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s film Keanu. The comedy finds the main pair as mild-mannered friends who decide that the only way to retrieve a stolen kitten is to act like gangster drug dealers. Union will be Key’s wife, who wishes her hubby would be a little more assertive in life, but will probably come to regret the thought.

Peter Atencio is directing that one in New Orleans this summer, with Union shooting her role in the comedy before moving to Night in Atlanta and Las Vegas.
