It's already filming in Colombia, but it's not too late for The 33 to fly in a new cast member. Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche, Rodrigo Santoro, James Brolin, Lou Diamond Philips, Martin Sheen and Jennifer Lopez have been at work for a while, and they're now joined by Gabriel Byrne for Patricia Riggen's tense drama.
**The 33 **follows the 69 days in 2010 during which 33 miners were trapped following a collapse at the San Jose Mine in Chile. Banderas is playing "Super" Mario Sepulveda, with Santoro as one of the other miners. Most of the other roles remain unspecified, but we know that Sheen is a father desperately waiting for news of his trapped son.
Byrne, meanwhile, will be Andre Sougarret, the engineer who masterminded the extraordinary rescue operation, and became well-known to the world's news cameras through his constant progress updates.
The shoot will move to the Atacama desert in Chlie before long. There's not yet any information on when the fiinished film will emerge.
