The **G.I. Joe **threequel already has a director in Retaliation's returning Jon M. Chu, but there was the trifling matter of not having a screenplay. That's been sorted, however, with the announcement that Snow White And The Huntsman**'s Evan Daugherty has been brought in to whip up Cobra's next dastardly scheme{ =nofollow}.

Daugherty wrote Snow White as a spec script, and has since ensconced himself on Paramount's good side with his overhaul of the next Ninja Turtles movie, produced by Michael Bay and currently shooting with Megan Fox, William Fichtner and Will Arnett.

There are no hints as to Daugherty's plans for Joe 3 yet, but rumblings from Comic-Con and elsewhere suggest that returning characters will include Scarlett and The Baroness (played in Rise Of The Cobra by Rachel Nichols and Sienna Miller respectively), Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock and Ray Park's Snake Eyes. Chu has also hinted at the introduction of a major new character from the action figure mythos.

Daugherty also wrote Killing Season, filmed this year by Mark Steven Johnson with Robert De Niro and John Travolta; and adapted Neil Burger's Divergent from the novel by Veronica Roth.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is, as always, producing G.I. Joe 3, but there are no start or release dates pencilled in as yet.
