Apologies for the obvious tagline. Just because a film's mostly set on a mental ward doesn't in itself make for **Cuckoo's Nest **similarities. But it's useful shorthand to describe a quirky dramedy with mental health issues like It's Kind of a Funny Story**, the trailer for which is now up at Yahoo. Have a look.

Zach Galifianakis has the McMurphy-ish role of the not-so-mental mentor of Keir Gilchrist, who checks himself into hospital to get treated for his teenage angst, and finds himself on the adult ward because the youth ward is closed. Cue an alternative coming-of age story, in which we learn that emergency wards have the best coffee, and that what we think is not what we think, is actually what we think. Thought so.

It's Kind of a Funny Story is based on Ned Vizzini's novel, and brought to us by writer / directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who were previously behind the ace Half Nelson. Emma Roberts, Aasif Mandvi, Lauren Graham, Viola Davis and Jeremy Davies are also on-hand with Galifianakis and Gilchrist, and the US release date is in September. No news yet of when we'll see it here.

If you like Galifianikis, we also recommend this red band trailer for **Operation: Endgame{ =nofollow}, which seems to be going straight to DVD, but looks as if it deserves better.
