After a batch of different teasers, the full trailer for Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones has arrived. And it promises something dark, brooding, and very different from pretty much anything Marvel has put on screen.
Overseen by Melissa Rosenberg and based on Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos’ Alias comic book series, the show features Krysten Ritter as our heroine, Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s closest friend Patricia “Trish” Walker, Mike Colter as friend and sometime love interest Luke “Power Man” Cage (who will be starring in his own series, now in the middle of shooting), Carrie-Ann Moss as the enigmatic Jeryn Hogarth and David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, The Purple Man, a psychic psychopath who has caused so much trouble for Jessica in the past. Jessica had thought he was dead, but she’s oh so very wrong…
From the looks of this, the tone is slightly shifted from the source material (but still very close) and Ritter is a strong choice as Jessica. Plus, it’s fun to see David Tennant take a walk on the dark side, even if Kilgrave is an extremely nasty villain. The more mature subject matter also feels in keeping with Daredevil, and looks set to carry over into Luke Cage.
As per usual with Netflix shows, the entire first season will be available to stream in one gulp on November 20.
