In this age flooded with marketing opportunities, choosing the right strategy for trailers to run in front of the huge Stateside Super Bowl audience has become even more complicated. It's not just a case of spending millions then just plopping the thing into a slot; indeed, some companies choose to get the jump on the competition and release the spot online before the big game. Amazon is taking that approach this year with the full trailer for its series adaptation of 2011 thriller Hanna.

The series, like the film, will follow the titular young woman (Esme Creed-Miles) nabbed from a secret facility as an infant, raised in a forest on Northern Poland by her hardened and intuitive soldier and mercenary father Erik (Joel Kinnaman), and trained in fighting and survival. They've stayed hidden for years, but emerge when a conspiracy threatens their safety. On their trail is the ruthless and efficient CIA agent Marissa (Mireille Enos), who harbours a dark secret that haunts her, and Hanna and Erik's re-emergence threatens to expose her past.

And Amazon is looking to pull a similar stunt as Netflix did last year with The Cloverfield Paradox, albeit on a smaller scale. The trailer makes clear that the first episode of the show will be available to watch when the game has finished (but only for 24 hours), before the whole first season arrives in March.
