A film based on a successful mobile game? That'll never work. Oh, hold on... But just before The Angry Birds Movie arrived at the top of the US box office, someone decided that Fruit Ninja would make for a scintillating live-action family-friendly film.

J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani are on board to write the script off the back of their work on How To Survive A Garden Gnome Attack, which is in development for Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers and Angry Birds base Sony Animation. No director is attached yet, but it's still early days for this one. Can Candy Crush be far behind? So far, that one remains in the world of parody thanks to Stephen Colbert and special guest Liam Neeson...
