The first images from Red Tails, the World War Two fighter pilot film George Lucas has been producing, have been put online in a slightly unexpected way: via the website of the camera company.
Munich film tech team FGV Schmidle posted a series of images in two articles that show off the movie’s hardware, both in terms of the various digital cameras and, more excitingly, some of the planes.
Anthony Hemingway directed the pic, which follows the Tuskegee Airmen, who battled racism as often as they fought the Germans.
It’s not a shock that the digital-friendly man behind Star Wars would be shooting digitally both in terms of equipment and effects; you’ll notice plenty of green screen in some of the images. But it’s also nice to see some practical locations and vehicles in the mix.
The movie doesn’t have a solid release date yet, though it’s expected either late this year or early 2011.
Thanks to CHUD for the spot.
