Frank Grillo is a man you know can handle himself; he's usually a tough guy on screen and stars in a TV series about MMA fighters. Jamie Bell? Well, we know he can throw a punch when required. And it will be, as the pair is leading the cast for indie fight thriller Donnybrook that also features Margaret Qualley and James Badge Dale.
Writer/director Tim Sutton is behind the movie, which The Hollywood Reporter has heard described as a blend of Fight Club meets True Romance set in the backwoods of Ohio.
Grillo will play Chainsaw Angus, a drug dealer with some serious anger issues, while Bell is on to be a former trooper named Earl. They have their own reasons for entering the legendary backcountry bare knuckle brawl that gives the film its title – Angus is in it for extra cash (and to break some heads), while Earl is after the money he needs to help his family. And with a prize of $100,000 up for grabs, it's not tough to see why they might step into the ring.
Qualley will be Delia Angus, Chainsaw's sister, and a drug dealer in her own right, while Badge Dale is on to be crooked cop Whalen, a man with his own drug needs.
Sutton will start the cameras rolling and the fists flying next week in Cincinnati.
