Frank Darabont’s keeping himself busy with plenty of irons in the fire. His Darkwoods Productions has just nabbed the option on Sherry Halperin’s comic memoir Rescue Me, He’s Wearing A Moose Hat: And 40 Other Dates Over 50.
The book follows Halperin’s dive back into the world of dating after her husband died when she was 51. She wrote herself a personal “perfect man list” and went looking for someone who could measure up.
It’ll have to join the already crowded production soup being stirred at Darkwoods – Darabont already has another comedy memoir, Foreign Babes In Beijing cooking, alongside the more tragic true-life tale of Tokyo Rose, who was falsely accused, but nevertheless convicted of treason during World War Two.
And Darabont’s also been tackling some TV, directing a new pilot – Raines – starring Jeff Goldblum as a quirky detective and an episode of top cop drama The Shield, in which the Farmington team go into a prison and pistol whip Tom Hanks. All right, maybe his show won't feature that. But we can dream…
