Studios have clearly been trawling the bargain bins of turnaround recently. Following on from word that Universal is considering picking up Jake Kasdan’s **My Spy comes news that 20th Century Fox is putting John Hamburg’s comedy Brother From Another Mother in its shopping bag.

The script had been lingering around DreamWorks, where nothing much happened with it. But the studio still has an option to co-finance the final project if Fox decides to go ahead and make it.

As for the story, the plot finds two estranged brothers with conveniently opposing personality types (one is older, brilliant but aimless; the other a sheltered and precocious teen) who must confront their issues while stuck together on a road trip.

If Fox does indeed give the go-ahead, Hamburg, who launched the Meet The Parents franchise and wrote / directed Along Came Polly and I** Love You, Man,** will be calling the shots. It’s probably little coincidence that regular Hamburg collaborator and pal Ben Stiller’s production company is based at Fox, though we’re not sure he’d star in this one.
