Four More Sign For Solondz Sequel

Paris Hilton spoils all our fun - we're excited about learning from The Hollywood Reporter that Todd Solondz has cast four more actors in his forthcoming "part sequel/part variation" to 1998's Happiness. Three of said additions are Allison Janney, Paul Ruebens and Charlotte Rampling. The fourth is Hilton.

Still, if anyone could do something interesting with the Hottie And The Nottie star, it's Solondz, and despite our disappointment at ever seeing the still-rich-beyond-belief-despite-credit-crunch, attention-seeking heiress on screens ever again, we can't help but raise a curious eyebrow (which is more than she can do) at this pairing.

The ironically titled Happiness remains a masterpiece of misery, a tough-going but hugely rewarding ensemble piece about the underbelly of American suburbia - a theme the director has returned to over his body of work, which also includes the equally heavy Welcome To The Dollhouse, Storytelling and Palindromes.

This latest project marks the end of a four year break from the screen for Solondz, and very little is known about it - including the title - save for it being 'a dramatic comedy set against the backdrop of a war'. But the actors announced today join an already impressive cast list including Ciaran Hinds, Natasha Richardson, Shirley Henderson, Michael K. 'Omar from The Wire' Williams. Keep your 2010 Oscar radar tuned.
