The much delayed Darren Aronofsky film The Fountain moves one step closer to production with the casting of Rachel Weisz as its female lead. The role was formerly occupied by Cate Blanchett who delayed filming due to pregnancy and then had to drop out when it was delayed further and came into conflict with other commitments. Weisz will now appear opposite Hugh Jackman who took over his part from Brad Pitt, also forced out as the schedule moved back. We can only hope that with both leads now in place, filming will proceed without further incident. The plot concerns a search in the past, present and future for the tree of life, which is apparently located somewhere in South America. At the risk of giving away plot details, we can say that the moral of the story is that death is a part of life to be embraced rather than feared
