As the casting rumours about the next Bond and the shooting of Casino Royale continue to come at a rate of knots, Bond's creator, Ian Fleming, is to get his own biopic, simply to be called Fleming.
The film will explore the author's own experiences as a spy and a womaniser, and look at how they shaped his iconic spy character. Born into a privileged family, Fleming was a bit of an underachiever until he was sent, as a journalist, to report on the Soviet Union, and was then recruited by the Foreign Office to spy on that country.
He apparently went on to mastermind increasingly outlandish spying schemes, most of which were rejected as impractical – but which presumably stood him in good stead when it came to writing his books – the first of which, Casino Royale, written in 1953, is set to be the next Bond film.
The film has been written by Damian Stevenson but has yet to find a director or star.
