With the Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Invasion crossover now a part of the pop culture history books, fans should get their dancing shoes on for the next planned crossover. And this one, "limited" to the Girl Of Steel and Scarlet Speedster, is the previously-announced musical.
Not too many details have been released at this point, though obviously Melissa Benoist's Supergirl and Grant Gustin's The Flash will be coming together, as will various cast members from both shows. For the leads, the concept is a natural as both of them are veterans of the TV show Glee. The plan at this point is for the scenario, which will have characters spontaneously break into song (think Buffy The Vampire Slayer's "Once More With Feeling"), to begin on Supergirl and conclude on The Flash.
Importantly, the events of the episodes are going to be significant for the characters, with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg commenting at the annual TCA, "When we get to the musical episode, both Barry [Allen] and Kara [Danvers] will find themselves at pivotal crossroads on their respective series, and the experience of going through the musical will have a great impact on both series going forward."
The villain of the piece has been revealed to be the Music Meister, first introduced in an acclaimed 2009 episode of the animated series Batman: The Brave And The Bold. On that show he was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris, who hasn't been ruled out on reprising the role. In an inteview with IGN, Harris commented, "I did the Music Meister in a recording booth in L.A. years ago. It was a fun episode. It's always fun to sing, so I don't know. We'll see."
Executive producer Greg Berlantiadded at TCA, "We haven't gone about casting it yet. It's the right question, though. We're certainly huge fans of him and as the casting process proceeds, we'll see what happens."
