A new Red 2 trailer, by all accounts, is due tomorrow, but in the meantime here are a handful of posters to get you primed for the** **geriactioner. There are four character banners and a more general teaser one-sheet. Frankly, if there's a better poster this year than John Malkovich, dressed like a character from Heidi, carrying a rocket launcher, surrounded by sheep, we're looking forward to seeing it.
Then, of course, we've got Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren: Bruce getting a bit of shopping done while prepared for action as usual, and Dame Helen still looking unfeasibly glamorous despite being surrounded by corpses.
Then there's a group shot from the back, with the tagline "The Best Never Rest", and Catherine Zeta-Jones with a glass of champers and a machine gun. CZJ gets her own poster but Mary-Louise Parker doesn't? What the hell is that about? There's no sign of Anthony Hopkins either...
Red 2 finds Willis' Frank Moses on Interpol's most-wanted list, making a run for it through Europe, once again with girlfriend Sarah (Parker) in tow and crazy Marvin (Malkovich) roped in to help. Jones is one of Frank's dangerous ex-girlfriends, with Hopkins also in the enemy camp. It seems even Victoria (Mirren) is against Frank this time, but all may not be as it seems.
Like the original film, Red 2 is very loosely based on the Warren Ellis comic, and written for the screen by Erich and Jon Hoeber. Dean Parisot is the director this time, taking over from Robert Schwentke. Here's the first trailer, and we'll have the next one for you shortly. The film's out in the UK on August 2.
