Here’s something you don’t see every day – a really original idea for a poster. In this case it’s the first teaser image for **Up in the Air **director Jason Reitman’s latest pic, Young Adult.

Styled in a mock-literary fashion, it’s the ideal way to launch the promotional campaign for the film, which finds Charlize Theron as a recently divorced, 30-something writer of young adult fiction. Our anti-heroine returns to her Minnesota hometown to try to reunite with a very reluctant ex-boyfriend (Patrick Wilson), who is married with children. When her advances are rejected, she finds solace in both a bottle and a semi-crippled former classmate (Patton Oswalt) as she tries to figure out what her life has become.
From the sounds of it – and the looks of the poster – this is definitely going to be a darker tale than Reitman’s previous work, though with a script by Juno writer Diablo Cody, you know it’s also going to be funny.
With Elizabeth Reaser, Collette Wolfe and (of course!) JK Simmons among the cast, Young Adult will stagger into our cinemas on February 10.
