We've been promised a sort of Rambo Unforgiven for more than a decade now. For a while there Sylvester Stallone was even saying he was "99% sure" he'd never go back to the character. But times change, and here, finally, is the first trailer for Last Blood. He's gonna take his horse to the old town road and ride til he can't no more.
You'll recall that 2008's Rambo ended with the John coming full circle and arriving back home on the ranch. Last Blood finds him still there, living quietly until, of course, trouble comes calling. Paz Vega co-stars as a reporter covering the drug trade in Mexico. When a cartel kidnaps her daughter, she enlists Rambo on a rescue mission. And, naturally, Hell follows with him.
Rambo: Last Blood is co-written by Stallone and Matt Cirulnick and directed by How I Spent My Summer Vacation's Adrian Grunberg (who was also First Assistant Director on the likes of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Apocalypto and, perhaps most relevantly here, TV's Narcos and Narcos: Mexico). It'll gallop into cinemas with its bow and arrow on September 20 this year.
