Olivia Wilde has been growing her career as an actor and producer on TV and film, but with Booksmart, she's taking a seat as director, and, based on the praise coming out of the SXSW Film Festival this weekend, crushing it. The first trailer for the coming-of-age movie is online.

Written by Set It Up's Katie Silberman, Booksmart is the story of Molly (Beanie Feldstein) and Amy (Kaitlyn Dever), who have been academic superstars and best friends for years. But while they've made the grade and will be headed to the colleges of their choice, they wonder if they've missed out on the wilder side of high school life.

So the pair decides to attend a graduation party and truly cut loose. They don't quite expect how crazy things will get... There have been comparisons to Superbad here, but by all accounts Wilde has pulled off a hilarious, emotional and canny look at how these two young women are navigating their lives.

Lisa Kudrow, Will Forte, Jessica Williams, Jason Sudeikis and Skyler Gisondo are all part of the cast for the film, which is targeting a 24 May release in the States and heads to the UK a few days later on 27 May.
