Our crystal ball did not let us down! When the first images from romantic Kate Winslet/Idris Elba survival drama The Mountain Between Us){href='%5Bhttp://%5D(http://www.empireonline.com/movies/mountain-us/)' } landed on Tuesday, we knew the trailer couldn't be far behind. And thus is has arrived to fulfill the prophecy. Check out the first footage.
Adapted from Charles Martin's 2010 tome by several writers during the film's development (J. Mills Goodloe and Chris Weitz made the final credits list), the movie has Paradise Now's Hany Abu-Assad in the director's chair for the story of two strangers who must bond and survive in tough conditions.
Elba is talented surgeon Ben, heading to a medical conference who charters a plane alongside photojournalist Alex (Winslet), looking to get back for her wedding when bad weather strikes. But the plane crashes, leaving the pair stranded in harsh, snowy conditions. When they realise help is not coming, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness, pushing one another to endure and discovering strength they never knew possible.
The movie also features Dermot Mulroney, Beau Bridges and a dog who accompanies the pair, and we can only imagine looking at the camera with a "what am I, chopped liver?" stare when Winslet says, "we're all we've got... Me and you!" to Elba.
The Mountain Between Us will be out in the UK on 20 October.
