Once known primarily for the sitcom No Heroics, writer Drew Pearce jumped into a whole other league when he co-wrote Iron Man 3 and worked on a variety of other scripts, including kicking off Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Now, after directing shorts, music videos and Marvel One-Shot All Hail The King, he's overseeing his first film, Hotel Artemis, which has a trailer online.

Set in a future Los Angeles, Hotel Artemis is a hospital within a 1920's-styled hotel that caters to the worst of the worst. That is, criminals who can afford the rates and are willing to follow the rules. Run by a quirky, steel-spined manager known as The Nurse (Jodie Foster), it'll patch up gangsters, killers and bank robbers without fear of repercussions.

One night as a violent riot rages on the streets of Los Angeles, legendary crime boss Orian Franklin, aka Niagara (Jeff Goldblum), arrives needing immediate treatment after a failed attempt on his life. Niagara’s sudden arrival creates a violent clash among the criminals in the hospital, with one ‘patient’ having a particularly deadly motive for checking into the hotel. The Nurse makes a decision that could jeopardize the future of the ER and everyone in it. Now the safest place for criminals in the city has become the most dangerous...

In addition to Foster and Goldblum, Pearce has assembled quite the cast, including Dave Bautista, Sterling K. Brown, Charlie Day, Sofia Boutella and Zachary Quinto. Hotel Artemis will open its doors to UK cinemas on 20 July.
