Having scored a Best Picture Oscar (and a variety of other awards) for CODA, Apple TV+ has naturally been on the look out for other potential awards bait. And it's clearly viewing Cooper Raiff's Cha Cha Real Smooth as a possibility. Check out the first trailer...
Written, directed and starring Raiff, the film has already won the Audience Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
Here's the story... Fresh out of college and without a clear life path going forward, 22-year-old Andrew is stuck back at home with his family in New Jersey. But if there’s one thing that belongs on his nonexistent résumé, it’s how to get a party started, which lands him the perfect job of motivational dancing at the bar and bat mitzvahs for his younger brother’s classmates.
When Andrew befriends a local mom, Domino (Dakota Johnson), and her daughter, Lola (Vanessa Burghardt), he finally discovers a future he wants — even if it might not be his own.
Leslie Mann, Brad Garrett, Raúl Castillo, Evan Assante and Odeya Rush are all in the cast for this one, which will land on limited release in cinemas (in the States, at least – no word on UK dates yet) and on 17 June.
