Meeting the parents, as explained in that film with Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller about something to do with family, the name is on the tip of our tongue right now, can be tricky. And what if you discover your beau is also massively rich? Double the pressure. That's the basic setup behind new comedy Crazy Rich Asians, which has a trailer online.

The film stars Constance Wu (currently best known for US TV series Fresg Off The Boat) as native New Yorker Rachel Chu, accompanying her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared to learn that Nick has neglected to mention a few key details about his life...

It turns out that he is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors. Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim. And it soon becomes clear that while money can’t buy love, it can definitely complicate things.

Based on Kevin Kwan's bestseller and adapted by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim for director Jon M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians also features Ken Jeong, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan and Harry Shum Jr. It'll be out in the UK on 17 August.
