If you've been busy binge-watching Marvel/Netflix's Daredevil since its second season launched on Friday, you may have already reached the end and needed to be airlifted from a crater in your couch. But you also will have seen the first teaser for Luke Cage, which followed the final episode. Those who have yet to make it through can see the footage below.
It's just a very brief look at Mike Colter's Power Man in action, reminding us all that he has essentially impenetrable skin and is also annoyed at constantly having to buy new clothes thanks to bullet holes and stabbing damage.
While it's not the first glimpse of him – he was properly introduced in Jessica Jones last year – the Cage series is likely to delve into Luke's superhero origin story, showing he got his strength and durability thanks to a sabotaged experiment in prison. He ends up a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in Harlem, but is pulled out of the shadows to battle a new threat to his city, while also confronting the demons of his past.
Joining Colter in the series are Mahershala Ali, Theo Rossi, Alfre Woodard, Frankie Faison, Simone Missick, Frank Whaley and, of course, the Defenders' main connective character, Claire Temple, played as usual, by Rosario Dawson. We'll also get to meet Claire's mother Soledad, played by Sonia Braga. With Cheo Hodari Coker as showrunner, Luke Cage will debut on Netflix on September 30.
