David Fincher has had a little bit of success working with Netflix; along with creator Beau Willimon, he helped shepherd House Of Cards into existence. Now he's back at the streaming service, this time working with Joe Penhall on Mindhunter.
Adapted by Penhall from John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, the series will follow an FBI team tracking some of world's most notorious serial killers and rapists. And this one will have the scary ring of truth to it, as it's all based on Douglas' very real career with the bureau.
The likes of Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and Cotter Smith make up the cast for the show, which also has Charlize Theron as one of its executive producers (though we don't know whether she'll show up on screen). Along with Fincher, Asif Kapadia, Andrew Douglas and Tobias Lindholm are on directorial duty.
Mindhunter – nothing to do with the 2004 Renny Harlin film Mindhunters, so feel relieved/disappointed according to your thoughts on that front – will arrive on Netflix this October.
