Alexander Payne's latest film, and his first stab at something with a science fiction bent, Downsizing, just premiered at the Venice Film Festival. So we're not all that shocked to see that the movie has its first teaser online. Check it out...
More accurately described as a "cast introduction" that teases a full trailer to come in a couple of weeks, the footage does at least offer a look at Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis, Hong Chau and Kristen Wiig, who comprise the lion's share of the main cast.
Downsizing, which Payne wrote with Sideways partner Jim Taylor, sees Omaha native Paul Safranek (Damon) low on money, deciding that life would be a lot cheaper and easier if he and his wife Audrey (Wiig) underwent a procedure to shrink themselves. And while there are clear benefits to life in miniature, there are also challenges...
The film will be released in the US on 22 December, with the UK release set for 19 January. As for the proper trailer, expect that on 12 September.
