First Super Troopers 2 Teaser Is Online Meow

Super Troopers 2

It has been 16 years since the original Super Troopers launched the Broken Lizard comedy troupe on the wider world. And next year, when the sequel arrives, it'll be thanks to fans, who crowdfunded the new movie. A first teaser, largely just promoting the film's US release on a predictably weed-friendly date, is now online.

If you're already a fan of Troopers and the team – Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, to be exact – then just this quick glimpse of the movie should be enough to confirm that they're going strictly on the If It Ain't Broke sequel theory: more of the same, just some different situations. Expect callbacks galore, plenty of madness and the welcome return of Brian Cox as the frustrated but understanding captain.

And if you've never heard of the movie, and have no idea why a broken lizard would be funny, the basics are these: it's the adventures of five Vermont State troopers, avid pranksters with a knack for screwing up, who try to save their jobs and outdo the local police department by solving a crime. What the new movie will offer remains to be seen, but there will be laughs along the way.

Super Troopers 2 will head to US cinemas on 20 April, but there has been no announcement about a UK date yet.
