The much-belated, Netflix-exclusive third Pee-Wee Herman film finally began shooting on Monday. And just in case you still doubted it was happening, Paul Reubens has posted the first still from **Pee-Wee's Big Holiday on his blog.

The pic, as you can see, shows an older but probably not wiser Pee-Wee in the passenger seat of a car. That, and Reubens / Pee-Wee's description of the journey so far, sadly seems to indicate he's left his beloved bicycle at home on this occasion. Well, he wouldn't want to lose it again.

"Wow, am I tired!" runs the caption. "Just finished the second day of filming. Hitchhiked yesterday all day. Got a ride, hitchhiked some more, then got another ride. A lot of travelling in two days!"

John Lee is the director, with long-time Pee-Wee fan Judd Apatow producing.

“Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago,” said Reubens back in February. “The world was much different back then — Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I’ve changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bowtie is the new black.”

Reubens wrote the script with Paul Rust, and Netflix plans to debut the film around the world. There’s no set date for Pee-Wee’s return to our screens yet, but he’ll likely be back next year.
