Twitchfilm have secured the first pic of Sam Rockwell in Choke, based on the Chuck Palahniuk novel and directed by that guy whose face you know from loads of things you can't quite place, Clark Gregg.

A quick discussion of Choke in the Empire office brought up several memorable events, but little remembrance of an actual plot. The film tells of Victor (Rockwell), a man who pays for his ailing mother's (Anjelica Huston) medical bills by feigning choking attacks in restaurants, which lead fellow diners to 'save' him and then feel financially responsible for the life they helped preserve. Victor is also a sex addict.

We remember the book being none more Palahniuk, but don't remember the point of it. We like the team involved and hope they can make this into more than a trip through Palahniuk's funny, but gross, mind.

In other Palahniuk news, slashfilm is reporting that Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) is back on an adaptation of Survivor, a terrific Palahniuk book about a man who accidentally becomes worshipped as a religious cult leader. Now this one, we would definitely like to see, since it's every bit as good a story as Fight Club and could actually make an even better film if done right.
