Returning to his horror roots after the behemoth breakout success of Fast & Furious 7, James Wan has just begun shooting The Conjuring 2, once again starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. And to mark the occasion Wan has shared a couple of images: one of himself and one of... someone else.

The first gives us the director on a "fogbound backyard inside a soundstage":
And the second shows an actual exorcist blessing the set before filming kicked off. Gimmick? "I'm an outright chickenshit," Wan told us on the previous Conjuring. "I believe these supernatural stories so I'm very much terrified of them!"

The Conjuring 2 currently bears the subtitle The Enfield Poltergeist, suggesting a 1977 setting in the English village of Brimsdown (Sky told a version of the same story last year starring Timothy Spall). Frances O'Connor plays the mother of daughters being troubled by paranormal activity in Greater London. Ed and Lorraine Warren (Wilson and Farmiga) are called in for the new case.
Chad and Carey Hayes are the screenwriters as last time, and The Conjuring 2, as we said, is shooting right now for a release on June 17 next year. Wan will be back to blockbusting for his next gig, the DC/Warner Justice League comicbook instalment Aquaman, with Jason Momoa.
