After set snaps and a quick look via a notebook, it's time for the first proper look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. The woman is most likely to come and help her fellow MCU characters deal with the fallout of Infinity War will first be introduced in her own film, and Entertainment Weekly has the initial pic.

The Marvel movie, with Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing, is looking to break the usual origin story framework, with former test pilot Carol Danvers introduced powers in place, in space fighting alongside some interstellar comrades. She'll have to return to Earth to learn more about her past and confront the threat from the evil shapeshifting Skrulls, led by Ben Mendelsohn's Talos.

"She can’t help but be herself," Larson tells EW. “She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She’s also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she’s the first one out there and doesn’t always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw."

Boden adds to that: "This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection. But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness." For more, head to EW.
