In Relativity Media’s ongoing struggle to make sure its take on Snow White – directed by Immortals’ Tarsem Singh and starring The Blind Side’s Lily Collins as Snow – stays in our minds ahead of competition from the likes of Snow White and the Huntsman, the company has released the first look at Collins in character to Entertainment Weekly and you can scope it below.
Talking to the magazine, the actress explained how this version of the young beauty will be subtly different from previous treatments of the character: “She’s very much that fairy tale princess we’ve all read about in books. She’s been modernized in a way that she becomes a fighter in the end.”
And as for her troubles with evil queen/stepmother Julia Roberts, Collins explained how the dynamic worked, especially in regards to their feelings towards Prince Andrew Alcott (Armie Hammer)… “They’re competing for the prince in separate ways. The Queen wants to use him to better herself. I’m seeking his help to gain back my kingdom from the Queen. She has her intentions from the start. I go from seeking his help to falling in love, though obviously there’s something of a spark from the beginning.”
With the likes of Danny Woodburn, Nathan Lane and Sean Bean also in the cast, Snow White (or whatever it ends up being called) is shooting now in Montreal and will arrive next year.
